I know we all introduced ourselves with some of this information on the first day, but I don't remember! Can we do a rundown of the following info for everyone:
-Due date
-baby girl, baby boy or did not find out
-name (if known)
-where you are delivering
-who is your Dr., Midwife or practice
-anything else you want to share!
-Due: June 6
ReplyDelete-We're having a girl!
-Lilly Rae
-We are delivering at Wake Med Cary
-We are working with the midwives at Triangle OBGYN. There are 5 there and who delivers Lilly will depend on who is on call that day.
-We are also working with a doula named Helene and we are hoping to have a birth experience without the use of medications.
Wow - we are only due 2 days apart and are both with Triangle OBGYN at Wake Med Cary! Maybe we'll meet in the middle on the 7th of June and be there together?
DeleteHow funny would that be if we were in the hospital at the same time?
DeleteI met Jessica, the midwife you said you really liked, and I loved her! I really hope she is on call when I deliver. I know the odds are not great, but it would be nice to have her amazing positive attitude and energy!
Hi Ladies -
ReplyDeleteAn Update on Baby Weir
Due: May 23 (Punctuality is key here! Every night I remind the little one that I intend to see him/her on May 23 - not a day early, not a day late. I believe if I can put that energy into the universe, we'll be united on the 23rd. I know, statistically, the odds are NOT in my favor & Jeff thinks I'm a crazy person, but what can it hurt?)
Gender: It's a surprise!
Name: Another surprise. (Jeff & I have a few options for either gender, but I believe that when I see the little one's face, I'll just know which name is the right one.)
Doctors & Delivery: Oh, this is causing some anxiety for us. We are taking classes at Rex Hospital because our OBGYN practice (Mid-Carolina) is affiliated with that hospital. But, as we learn more about different hospital polices, we are considering changing doctors and delivering at UNC. We head over to UNC on Wednesday evening for a "meet-and-greet" and we'll make our decision in the days following. Any advice?
Additional Information: We are working with The Birthing Well - Kristy and two other doulas - because we are working toward a natural birth, too.
We are new to the area - Jeff took a job in Raleigh in June of last year and I moved down here to join him in January. It's been a tough transition for me. Since I arrived - as a pregnant lady & in the middle of the school year - I decided not to work and, instead, focus on my dissertation. I really miss the drama & energy of the high school where I was a special education teacher and I find that, most days, I can't focus on writing & research for longer than a few hours or so...So, any suggestions for a great place to study?
Hope that you are all feeling well -
Take care. - K
Have you thought any more about where you want to deliver? Curious what conclusions you've come to if you feel like sharing?
Delete-Due: May 23 also! (I also tell the baby it would be nice if he/she bakes a little longer, at least until full term, but preferably waiting until the due date would be great.)
ReplyDelete-The sex and name will be a surprise! We are waiting until we see the baby to pick a name that fits, but we have a list of favorites.
-Delivering at UNC
-with one of the UNC midwives, depending on who is on call that day. They are all great though! They actually listen to all of your questions and expect/ encourage you to ask. Very low intervention. I've just had a fantastic experience with them.
- I am also working on my dissertation and am only able to focus for more than a few hours a day. Just too much fun to take care of baby stuff and also I need more sleep than previously. Kerry, I find that Cafe Carolina (many locations) is a great place to work. Good food, internet, and I like the din of the background noise. We moved here from Chapel Hill in the fall, so are enjoying getting to know Raleigh.
Hope you are all well too!

ReplyDelete-Due date: Oh...sometime in 2001 and 2003
-baby girl, baby boy or did not find out: One of each!
-name (if known): Zoe and Evan
-where you are delivering: no where anytime in the future ;-)
Just kidding!
Glad you are all keeping in touch. Know I am around and available as a resource at any point. Excited for you all!

ReplyDeleteWe are due date June 8th. John is a high school teacher and graduation is June 8th so he's hoping the baby will hold out til that day then he's home free. If not, he'll make himself home free ;)
We are having a baby boy to be named Brayden Thomas. I can hardly wait to meet the little fella. His nursery is all done and ready - it's a beautiful space. We splurged on the glider and I am so happy that we did. I find myself sitting in his room just to be in his space. The dog, Sugar, really has found her spot under his crib. If I am in there, that's where she wants to be. It's still hard to believe that it's only a matter of weeks before there will be a baby there...my baby there. Whew!
We are delivering at Wake Med Cary. I'm debating whether we need to do a tour of the facilities so there are no surprises. Wonder if it's worth the time?
I am seeing the doctors and midwives at Triangle OB-GYN. I've met with several and have enjoyed them all. I definitely have my first two choices of who I am praying is on-call when it's our time, but that is just a matter of personality.
Anything else to share? Well, I'm a sharer by nature ;) I would share that the anxiety/self-doubt bug has crept up the past few days...can I really make it through natural childbirth? Am I strong enough? Will I be a good mom? Will John and I be good parents? What happens to the dynamics of our relationship when it's no longer "just the two of us" like it's been for the past ten years? I'm sure that these are normal thoughts/doubts, but for a woman like me who is usually Miss Polly Positivity, it's harder to shake than I thought. But we learned, we CAN do this. Our baby WILL come out, whether we think we can handle it or not. We will figure things out as we go, and we will certainly make mistakes, but I have the desire to the best mom I can be and I think that's really all we can ask of ourselves...
